If you want to eat the best buckwheat noodles
and Oyaki in Matsumoto area, I suggest you
to visit Asukaso in Yasaka village. The village
is located among the area of Omachi city
and Ikusaka village. Drive your car along
route19 from Matsumoto city through Akashina
town and crossing the Kido bridge toward
Nagano city. About 40 minutes driving from
Matsumoto, right after the end of Ikusaka
village, there is a bridge named Sanseiji
. You make a pin curve drive to the left,
right after the bridge. If you miss the point
you would not get to the place. So please
drive slowly when you get to the bridge. If
you are on the right truck, you must be driving
local route 55. This road leads you to Omachi
city and Hakuba town. Continue driving another
five minutes or so along the river, you will
pass a tunnel . Then you will see a fall
named Otaki or big fall. It would have been
magnificent, if it had had much water in
the fall. Crossing two or three more bridges
driving in ten more minutes, the road gets
suddenly wound. Then you will see the sign
of Asukaso to your right. It is pretty easy to miss
the sign, I almost missed it and past this
time, too. You make another pin curve driving
here and getting close to the destination.
Here you are, this is Asukaso( picture upper
left). I had visited here several times before,
because my wife is from Ikusaka village which
is pretty close. It was good noodle as usual
and Oyaki, which is hard bun with cooked
vegetable inside, was marvelous. They have
their own place to make buckwheat powder. And fireplace to bake Oyaki is classical, they use ash
and charcoal. This way makes the Oyaki more
delicious.
You can have a bed for night, but you can
also just take hot spring bath here with
extra fee of 400yen. The view from the bath
tub is forest, you would feel like taking
bath in the forest with green fresh open
air.
